Cervical disc herniations are known to cause pain and/or sensations that radiate down the shoulders, arms, hands and fingers; this is known as “cervical radiculopathy.”  Cervical radiculopathy maybe be manifested in the form of pain, tingling, hypoesthesis/hyperesthesia, “pins and needles” felt on the shoulder, arm and hand, etc.  In February 1994, Broillette DL, and Gurske DT, conducted research to determine whether or not chiropractic manipulation was effective at treatment of this pathology.  Upon completion of the study, it was discovered that chiropractic was in fact extremely effective treatment for cervical radiculopathy, resulting in a 60% improvement over a six week period!
