 Cranberries Fight Cancer!

Researchers from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry- University of Massachusetts (Dartmouth) have published a report detailing the last 10 years of research on phytochemicals found in cranberries.  There were more than 75  phytochemicals found in cranberries shown to have anti-cancer activity. Furthermore, the Laboratory of Molecular Medicine of Ohio State University  found cranberry extract to have a positive effect on skin cancer cells. Studies conducted by the Department Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of W. Ontario found that cranberry extract decreased growth and metastasis canceroues tumors in mice.

The bottom line is that phytonutrients in cranberries consist of phenolic acids, pranthocyanidans, antocyanins, flavonoids, and triterpenoids which are known for their ability to fight cancer.

Dr. Eshanov, a chiropractor in Montclair NJ, advises patients to use fresh cranberries as cranberries that have been canned, bottled or packaged have little or no benefits in comparison.

Oregano Oil Helps Fight Inflammation, Infection, Pain and More…

Oregano oil contains carvacrol, flavonoids, and terpenes which are very powerful decongestants and histamine reducing agents, hence it is an effective antihistamine.  Oregano oil also contains a substance called rosmarinic acid which inhibits inflammatory responses elicited by allergies. The Israel Institute of Technology found that oregano oil helps the respiratory tract, the coughing reflex and improves nasal airflow.

Other benefits of oregano oil are:

  • destroys organisms that cause skin infections
  • destroys organisms that cause digestive disorders
  • helps with joints and joint pain
  • helps to fight free radicals (due to its hight antioxidant content)
  • acts as an emmenagogue; helps irregular menstruation and relieves symptoms of menopause

Dr. Eshanov recommends that when looking for the right oregano oil, to look at the percent of carvacrol it contains, and to only use organic if possible.
