Coenzyme Q10, more commonly  known as CoQ10 or ubiquinone is an oil soluble substance found in both human and plant cells; more specifically it is found in the mitochondria. CoQ10 is a vital component of the electron transport chain and participates in cellular aerobic respiration by generating adenosine triphosphate (ATP). When ATP is used for energy, one of the phosphates is cleaved off and thus the substance become adenosine diphosphate (ADP). Coenzyme Q10 is responsible for creating an extra phosphate which bonds to ADP and thus becomes ATP. Studies show that ninety-five percent of our energy is derived during this process.

Coeznyme Q10 has many health benefits for those suffering with migraines, hypertension, kidney disease/failure, diabetes, and more. However, the purpose of this blog is discuss and emphasize the importance of CoQ10 for a healthy heart. The high energy requirements of the heart have made it the area with the highest concentration of CoQ10 in the body.  Congestive heart failure  (CHF) and the use of CoQ10 has been studied by many researchers, all to show positive results.  As early as 1967, Japanese researcher, Dr. Yuichi Yamamura demonstrated the efficacy of CoQ10 when treating heart failure. Since 1967, there have been numerous studies that have confirmed the efficacy of CoQ10 in the treatment of heart conditions. Diastolic dysfunction, angina pectoris, hypertension, ventricular arrhythmia, mitral valve prolapse, and cardiotoxicities are among the other heart conditions that have shown great improvement with the use of CoQ10 (Sinatra, 1998). There are numerous studies confirming the benefits of CoQ10. Montclair chiropractic physician, Dr. Gary Eshanov, advises readers to read the listed research in this blog and to consult with their primary healthcare provider on the use of CoQ10. Furthermore, it should be noted, there is much evidence pointing to the fact that CoQ10 may be used for preventative health care and not only as a response to compromised health.  You are encouraged to read the studies listed below.
